SINGLE FAMILY HOME & TERRACE DRIVE CONDOMINIUM INFORMATION

WELCOME

Bristol Harbour Water Works Corporation (BWWC) welcomes you as a new single family homeowner, or Terrace Drive condominium customer, to our service. The following information is relevant only to single family homeowners or Terrace Drive condominium owners with individual unit water meters, as water service within our district is billed differently for Condominium #1 - 5 owners compared to Terrace Drive condominium owners or single family home owners with individual unit water meters, by directive of the Department of Public Service (DPS). Below are answers to commonly asked questions that you may find helpful:

BILLING PERIOD

BWWC bills for service connections in advance, and water consumption in arrears, on a quarterly basis.

BWWC billing periods begin on January 1st, April 1st, July 1st, and October 1st.

To avoid any confusion, please see the example below for service connection fees and water consumption:

EXAMPLE:

A bill issued on January 1st would have a service connection fee for the quarter in advance from January 1 through the last day of March, and would also have a separate itemized water consumption component itemized for the prior period of October 1st through December 31st of the prior billing period. This billing structure is a directive of the Department of Public Service (DPS) and is not up to BWWC to modify.

MOVING IN OR OUT

Since there are two components to our billing, BWWC bills for service connection fees in advance and for water consumption in arrears - please see below:

SERVICE CONNECTION FEE:
If you acquire a single family home or a Terrace Drive condominium in our district on or after the first day of any billing quarter, the official owner at the start of the billing quarter is responsible for the service connection fee payment, and it is the responsibility of the real estate attorney at closing to reconcile the pre-paid service fee between the seller and the buyer. BWWC is not responsible for partial period service connection billing adjustments between the seller and the buyer.

WATER CONSUMPTION CHARGES:

For water consumption which is billed in arrears and itemized separately on your water bill from the service connection fee, it is very important that the seller of a property notify BWWC at least one week in advance of the closing date, so that we may schedule a water meter reading to be taken before closing. The homeowner is responsible for all water consumption charges up to the date of closing, and the new homeowner will then take responsibility for water consumption after the closing date. If you are moving out, it is critical to advise BWWC of your closing date and to remove your name from our customer records, so that we may start billing the new resident for consumption charges effective immediately after closing, and for new service connections starting at the beginning of the new service quarter.

NEW ACCOUNT OWNER INFORMATION

For all new residents, please complete the new account registration form and return it to BWWC by email or mail so that you may establish service with our utility. Having proper contact information is also very helpful, in case we need to contact you about any service work being done by our utility near your residence that you should be aware of.

TWO TYPES OF PAYMENT OPTIONS

1. Pay by Check: Payment may be made by personal check. If paying by check, please note that our remit to address is a lock box at Five Star Bank. You will receive a quartlery bill mailed to your service address, or alternatively to a seperate billing address.

It is very important that you include the perforated remittance stub from your quarterly invoice along with your check. The stub includes your customer account information and ensures your account will be properly credited for your payment made. The remit to address for BWWC is:
